Research Interests
I first became acquainted with Hannah Arendt's philosophy through an existentialist and political lens. As I read The Human Condition, however, I began to make connections to my previous work on philosophical aesthetics at the University of Oslo. My current research focus is based on developing a theory of aesthetics based on Arendt's conception of action. I have also been inspired by Samuel Ramos's Toward a New Humanism and I'm interested in learning how art can be a means of 'discovering' an objective morality by focusing community engagement around fictionalized scenarios. So far, my work has focused on sculpture and poetry, but I would also like to research how action can manifest in music and painting.
